A Day in the Life of a Florist

Updated: Feb 21, 2022

A while back, I did a video documenting my day as a florist. I intended it to be a personal memento but was encouraged by a dear friend to share it with fellow flower enthusiasts. The video offers only a glimpse of what a freelance florist does daily.

A far cry from facile, floristry involves heavy lifting, cleaning and other manual work behind the scenes. I remember once I had to transport 36 cement vases from the supplier back home. I could barely lift the box of vases onto the trolley and ended up making six trips back and forth. What a back-breaking day!

Being a florist entails more than just flower arrangements. It is demanding but at the same time rewarding. For me, the trade-offs are especially worthwhile when my customers tell me how much they appreciate my creations and service.

I plan to share my entrepreneurial journey over the next few blog posts, documenting the different aspects and learning points. The past two years running Jan's Floristry have been nothing short of amazing. I won't trade this experience for any other. Thank you for being a part of this journey!
